Wine Guide
In today’s world, most adults like to enjoy a glass of wine with their meal. Here are some tips for matching some of your favorite bottles with your favorite Jamaican dishes.
But first, here’s a general guideline: Match like with like.
Types of Wines
1. White
Generally speaking, these are citrusy, fruity and light like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Grigio.
2. Red
These tend to have a tarter more pungent taste. You’ll find Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz in this category of wines.
3. Rose
Think of rose wines as medium wines, not as light as a white and not as “rich” as red. Typically pink in color, refreshing in taste.
Other Wines
1. Sparkling Wines
The bubbly wine usually enjoyed alone like champagne.
2. Fortified Wines
Rich wines generally used for baking and cooking. Examples of these are Port and Sherry.
